Pastor Chris, Jennifer, Zachery, and Joel Harper

Pastor Chris, Senior Pastor of Scottsdale Worship Center, has been on staff since 1994. Raised in the ministry, he began traveling as a children’s evangelist at age 16, went to Southwestern Bible College in Texas, and then traveled with Kidz Rally USA for 8 years. Pastor Chris and Jennifer oversee all of the ministries of the church, including Men’s Ministries, Singles, Prayer Ministries, Fellowship activities, Christian Education, Volunteer Ministries, and adult small groups (HomeLinks, Bible Studies, and prayer groups).

Pastor Chris spends his days in ministry development, administration, counseling, and connecting with new and current SWC family members.

“I am married to a beautiful lady who serves with me in ministry. Together we have two children (who keep us hopping), Zachary and Joel. Jennifer and I love people. We have a passion to see people fulfill their God-given calling in life—to live a LIFE of worship. It’s very exciting to me when I see people grow in connection with God and others.”

Pastor Jim and Suzy Cornwall

Dr. Jim Cornwall, Founding Pastor of Scottsdale Worship Center, was born the grandson, son and brother to a family of preachers. After preparing for the ministry, he entered the business world where he achieved great success (by the world's measure) but was fully aware that he was running away from the will of God for his life.

As a result of Pastor Jim’s business experience, he tends to see the Word of God as a practical guidebook with principals that really work in the marketplace of our society. Pastor Jim is well accepted as a conference and camp meeting speaker but his primary focus of ministry is that of a pastor. Pastor Jim and his wife, Suzy, founded Scottsdale Worship Center in 1984 and have been used by God to build it into a thriving church.

Though Pastor Jim retired in August of 2006, he remains an important part of the church and continues to counsel and support the body of Christ at SWC.

“I have a passion for the wounded ‘body of Christ’, those who have been wounded by the ‘church’ and feel like ‘outsiders’ to the Church. I care about being a man of high Christian character that is reflected in my home, in the market place, and in the ministry.”

Pastor Justin and Kristin Hege

Pastor Justin and his wife Kristin are the Student Ministries Pastors. THey Pastor and oversee the C hronicles college group, the Senior High group "Fusion" and the Junior High group. Justin has been in full time ministry since 1997 and began his ministry as an intern here at SWC. After traveling full time and working heavily with youth, he moved to the East coast and continued serving as a youth pastor in Community Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He since has moved back to the Valley and come on staff to truly impact our young people.

Kristin and Justin enjoy outdoor activities, movies, fellowship with friends, and playing with their “son,” a golden brown Carolina Dog named “Toby”.

“Kristin’s and my goal is to move people through grace. We believe in seeing and loving people the way God views them….unconditionally and constant. We have a heart for the hurt and broken, and believe that no one is ever too far away to be reached by the hand of God.”

Pastor Lenny and Mariam Corliss

Pastor Lenny is the Children’s Pastor here at SWC, impacting our kids through the His Kidz ministry. In tune with this church’s passion for reaching children for Christ, he and his staff present God’s Word to our young people in exciting and innovative ways including puppets, skits, Gospel illusions, and illustrated stories. He also travels throughout the nation presenting Children’s Ministry Training and consultation to those who teach children in a church setting. He leads the Heart Rescue Team of the SWC Kids Rally ministry that ministers to children nationwide, presenting camps and dynamic evangelistic and spiritual growth rallies. He and his wife, Mariam, have three married children and three awesome grandchildren.

“I have a passion for teaching, motivating, and encouraging adults to be more aware of the significant impact we can have in the lives of children. Boys and girls are the raw material out of which the Lord makes men and women of God.”

Pastor Bob and Hazel Burget

Pastor Bob fills the role of the Missions Pastor here at Scottsdale Worship Center. He responded to the call of God to ministry at the age of 22 and has faithfully served the Lord ever since. He married Hazel in 1950, and together they pastored churches around the country. They have three children, 5 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way.

“I have declared in my heart of hearts that I will serve the Lord, by His grace, to the end of this life on earth. With faith in God’s provision, I will not become bitter or discouraged by what I see with my eyes and hear with my ears. I will do all I know to do to further the work of the Lord, care for my family, and face life with the joy and peace that His Word declares.”
