Dear SWC Family,

As we come to an end of our 40 Days of Community, I want to take a moment for us to reflect on our experience together.  Almost 40 days ago, we made a fresh commitment to reach beyond ourselves and impact those around us with the extravagant love of God.  This, as we've learned, is the Domino Effect in which each of us can be a part.

I trust this time of emphasis will result in an ongoing approach to doing, and being, the Church.  Remember every person you come in contact with can be positively affected by THE Message that can come through your words and actions, first with your family, then your SWC family, your neighbors, and beyond.  Together we can "permeate our community with the unconditional love of God.”  We really can BE the Church for which God has called and equipped us.

One thing the Lord has really impressed on my heart over these 40 days is that we are in a "season of opportunity.”  God has prepared a way in the hearts of those within our "community.”  This is the time for us to respond to this season with an aggressive effort to move on the opportunities that surround us.  I think you will find that family, friends, and neighbors that have been closed to hearing the Message or an invitation to SWC in the past, will be more open than ever.

This "season of opportunity" is just that - a season.  I believe we must act quickly and with the confidence of Christ.  God has blessed us with plenty of seats, members that are motivated and ready to receive them, small group leaders ready to disciple them, and pastors ready to pastor them.  We're ready!

You have already received information on the special Sundays coming up (check the web site for regular updates).  The variety of service themes have been designed for you to use as a reason for your friends to attend with you.  Consider who you plan to invite to church - take time to pray for them - and make the invitation right away.  Don't miss this "season of opportunity.”

Keep in mind 7 simple SWC things when you bring a guest:

1.  As you enter - introduce them to the Greeters/Ushers as well as others around your seat.

2.  Let them know there are no expectations on them to participate past their comfort level.

3.  Be sure they pick up a guest packet and fill out a guest information card so that I can thank them for attending and take myself available to them.

4.  After service - let them know that you would be happy to join them at the altars if they would like special prayer.

5.  Be sure Jennifer and I have the opportunity to meet them personally.

6.  Follow-up (consider taking them to your home group or an invitation to another Sunday).

7.  Keep praying for them.

(The New Attendees Group will be a great place to direct them as they begin to attend more regularly.)

We are opening our "doors" even wider to the community over these next several weeks.  Be an active part of this "season of opportunity.”
Honored to be your Pastor,

 Pastor Chris

Comments from you regarding The Cooler, Community and just life in Christ in general. Please email The Cooler with your thoughts and insight.

I tried to follow some of your ideas, particularly at work. I have been more open with my faith. But God can even use the smallest of my efforts. Three of my co-workers want me to TEACH a BIBLE STUDY once a week at lunch time!

So I will order the materials tonight and begin next week.

Isn't God amazing!!!!

In His Service,

Mary
I so appreciate receiving an email with a scripture for the day. It is always just what I need as an encouragement and challenges me to continue to fulfill the Lord's direction in my life.

Parents might suggest that their kids sign-up.  With so many kids on the Internet and wanting anxiously to receive emails, what a great avenue to get more of God's Word instilled in their hearts. His Word always pierces the soul. How about kids being encouraged to blog with us or starting one of their own? It sure would be better than MySpace!!

Oh my gosh, Kelly, this was awesome: I read daily devotionals from Joyce Meyers, and today, her focus is on Psalm 103:10-13.  So that was perfect for today!!  Her translation is: God loves you enough to cover your little daily mistakes.  He loves you enough to get you through this day in power and victory.

So I just had to share that with my manager and with you!

Thank you!!

Olivia

It’s been so amazing doing the prayers 4 times a day: God has been drawing my friends to me for guidance in their lives so I can minister to them on His Will verses their own.  Also, we have the map of our neighborhood on the fridge to pray over, and just this morning we took our dog, Roxy, for a walk and we met one of the neighbors that has lived there since the 70s.  So we exchanged emails and she knows most of all the neighbors on our block!! Amazing how God opens doors as soon as we pray!!

Thank you for every creative idea!  I still need to buy snacks for the office, but we did get to have an office lunch yesterday, so we got to all hang out for ½ hour together!Keep feeding our spirits!!

Have a blessed week!!

Olivia

What a wonderful time we had at the progressive dinner. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it such a special time. Finding out how many really cool people we have at SWC.

Roberta

I really love this first of the series email. This says it all. And the scripture is one I have gone to often to remember why I am here. Yes, I need this encouragement to be available to my neighbors and everyone that God brings into my day.

Lord; please do not let me hold back your love or your Presence. I have a wonderful Jewish neighbor who has a brother who is a believer now. Bob and Gene and I will be thrilled when his sister, Charlene accepts her Messiah.

Because He truly gave us the authority and ministry to heal the sick, I ask for boldness in the Holy Spirit to go forth and do His will in His love.

Vicki

This is great. Interesting that you are using "the cooler" as your name. This is also a name for the guy the casinos send in to play when someone is winning too much. They are for making a winner's luck go bad. I thought how backwards the world's ways are. Our Cooler is for keeping us from the counter-fit ill-gotten gain and giving us the Word for treasures that are not only good but eternal.... and not by luck but by God given faith. Wonderful!

Haggai, was the first prophet to minister to the first remnant of the people of Israel to return to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity. His main message was to inspire the people to give priority to the construction of the temple. He viewed the importance of religious ritual above even justice and righteousness. 15 years had passed since their return and only the temple foundations had been laid. Meanwhile, the people had built fine houses for themselves. Within weeks of Haggai's rebuke, construction was restarted. God responded by saying that he would be with the people and bless them. 4 years later, the temple was finished.

Dear H2O,

Thanks for the verse of scripture and the domino idea. I downloaded my neighborhood map and printed it out. I was surprised to see how much bigger my neighborhood looks from the “birds-eye” view. Even my little place on the map is filled with so many lives to care about and reach out to. I think the out of sight out of mind principle is true when it comes to a quick drive through my neighborhood so I can get home (I am usually in a hurry). Looking at it stationary on paper seems to stop time for a moment and I am made uniquely aware of the presence of so many others living right around me. I will make it a point to pray over the map and intend to walk around the blocks closest to my home in hopes for a divine appointment of sorts. I’ll let you know what happens.

Thanks, Pastor Lenny
